Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Takuya Nakamura moved to the US in 1990 to study under the legendary jazz theorist and composer George Russell at the New England Conservatory of Music. Under Russell’s tutelage, Nakamura honed his craft and developed a profound understanding of jazz theory and composition, which would become fundamental to his innovative approach to music.
In 94′ Nakamura moved to New York City, where he quickly became a staple in the vibrant Jungle scene. His versatility as a musician allowed him to collaborate with an impressive array of artists across different genres. He has worked with legendary figures such as Quincy Jones, DJ Logic, and Arto Lindsay, bringing his distinctive sound to numerous recordings and live performances.
